Want to feel more positive about your body. Get going to improve your body image. Exercising improves body image, whatever the fitness level.
Over the years the percentage of adults that are unhappy with their body image has dramatically increased.
This increase in negative body image is probably due to two things. First, the number of people who are overweight has increased. The second, and probably more important, is that we are constantly bombarded with beautiful majorly retouched pictures of bodies in the media. There is a culture of perfection. The images in magazines etc. are altered to provide the perfect body. We are frequently comparing ourselves to this impossible ideal.
Since we are so unhappy with our bodies, we are constantly trying to change them. The latest fad diet, cellulite creams, spanx, butt lifters and a whole range of other products.
In an analysis of research that has been published in the last few years, researchers determined that exercising made people feel better about their bodies whether there was an improvement or not.
It was not the level of fitness that contributed to how people felt about their body, but the act of exercising. This means you do not need to be an athlete to get this effect, anybody can get a more positive feeling about their body. It doesn’t matter what your fitness level is.
So, want to feel good about your body? Get out there and do some exercise. Get a boost both physically and mentally.
